Google understands synonyms and context.
Meta Descriptions
Meta descriptions don’t directly affect rankings, but they affect click-through rate, which does affect rankings. Keep it under 160 characters. Include your target keyword and a clear benefit. Example: “Need roof repair in Tampa? ABC Roofing offers same-day emergency service, free estimates, and financing. Licensed and insured since 2008.” The goal is to make searchers click your result instead of the one above or below it.
URL Structure
Clean URLs rank better than messy ones. Use hyphens, not underscores. Keep it short. Include your target keyword. Example: good URL is “abcroofing.com/metal-roof-installation-denver”. Bad URL is “abcroofing.com/services?id=47&category=metal”. Avoid dates in URLs unless you’re running a blog, they make evergreen content look outdated. Never change URLs after a page is ranking unless you set up proper 301 redirects.
Image Alt Text
Alt text describes images for screen readers and Google. It’s a ranking factor. Every image on your site should have descriptive alt text that includes relevant keywords when natural.
